The EDC provides technical support for computing equipment attached to the EDC network, with focus on the reliability and security of each workstation and peripheral on the network. Our job is to make sure our technology accelerates our research rather than stand in its way.

We Are on Your Team...
We provide support for software and hardware installations and upgrades as well as timely assistance with hardware and software problems that may be encountered. Prior to adding a computer to our network, the reliability and security of each computer is evaluated. If the computer is determined to be unstable, infected with a virus or is vulnerable to security threats, our support staff recommends the appropriate action to correct these issues. Once we install the computing equipment our staff follows a very simple philosophy... "Work must continue". Our support team responds to help desk requests immediately when the situation prevents someone from continuing their work. All other requests made of our support staff through our web-based Help Desk are typically addressed and solved within 24 hours. The EDC has provided these services externally to the University research community upon request for the last seven years.

Buying New Equipment?
In addition, our staff will provide recommendations and quotes for computing equipment and peripherals. We ensure that the equipment is compatible with your networking environment.

We Are There When You Need Us...
Our unique approach to providing technical support is superior to other similar services. Generally, we do not place an FTE at your location. There is no employee University overhead billed to you. The best person to handle a particular request is automatically e-mailed and dispatched from the EDC based on the category of help request submitted. This unique approach makes our service plan extremely cost effective.
