ABOUT US...

Below is a brief description of the Sequenced Treatment Alternatives to Relieve Depression (STAR*D) project. If you are interested in reviewing the information in greater detail, the proposed protocol has been posted for your review.
  • Our Mission

  • Four principles form the basis of STAR*D's mission...

  • Who We Are

  • Duration, Funding and Participating Institutions..

  • Treatment Options

  • STAR*D will determine, both prospectively and scientifically for the very first time, which treatment strategies are the most effective for clinically depressed patients who fail to benefit adequately after initial treatment..

  • Treatment Protocols

  • The treatment protocol entails providing patient/family education as well as implementing specific procedures to ensure an adequate dose and duration of appropriate treatment at each next step..

  • Implementation

  • Each site will coordinate the research at a variety of clinical settings, where clinicians who work in either the public or private sectors and who provide either primary or specialty care will enroll and treat the study participants..
