Custom software design and development of standard methods have been a focus at the EDC since it was established in 1980. When commercial software cannot sufficiently address a need, we set out to build the software system in-house. The result of our development efforts is the creation of several software systems that provide the data management system infrastructure (e.g., MATRIX, PoP, Project Web portal systems) for our research. The EDC software development team has significant experience in a variety of programming environments (e.g., PL/SQL, C#, Visual Basic, .Net) as well as a number of development environments and tools. The EDC has provided these services externally to the University research community upon request for the last seven years.
