EDC#20080129 and EDC#20080125   SYSTEMS/PROGRAMMER III

Opportunity to work with a team of software engineers who are responsible for programming, testing and validating systems for major research initiatives.

Specific duties for this position: The Systems Programmer designs, develops, validates and implements software applications for major research initiatives. Primary responsibilities include the development and programming of Rich Internet application software (RIA) and traditional desktop software applications. Secondary responsibilities include the design, development and maintenance of large-scale databases. The creation and maintenance of technical documentation with respect to responsibilities is a requirement. This position provides an opportunity to create software systems in various database environments including Oracle, SQL Server and Microsoft Access while utilizing a variety of development environments and tools including Visual Studio, Oracle PL/SQL, SharePoint Portal Server, Visual Basic, and JavaScript.

Requirements: Must have a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Science or other science-related field. Candidate must have three years of experience as a computer professional as well as experience in several of the following: Oracle PL/SQL, Visual Basic, CGI application development, JavaScript, HTML, Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle 8i/9i/10g, Windows operating system, ASP, C# and Visual Studio.

EDC#19990122   SENIOR DATA MANAGER/RESEARCH SPECIALIST

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience including database design and management (ORACLE experience a plus); excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills and overall accuracy are necessary. Familiarity with epidemiological research, methods of data analysis, web site design, and project coordination experience would be helpful.

Duties: Responsible for the overall data management of a patient registry and related clinical trials. This position will include the following responsibilities: Design and implement system for flow and organization of data collection forms; design procedures to analyze and evaluate data, produce data summaries and reports, and compile statistics; assist with design of automated data management system involving ORACLE and Web-based applications and develop computerized data monitoring and editing procedures and routines; manage and maintain the data management system; assist with and write study protocols; collaboratively structure and maintain project web site; responsible for communication with and among the project sites and clinical coordinating center.

Requirements: Requires an advanced degree in statistics. Knowledge of computer data management systems and methods of analysis is needed. Medical background or familiarity with epidemiological research is needed. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience in administration, research, and applied statistical work is needed so that the individual can operate independently and coordinate project matters. Individual should be able to solve problems as they arise and advise on policy matters.

Duties: The person in this position will serve as project manager-statistician. Duties include day-to-day administration of study, direction of support staff, plan development for data collection, design of data collection organization and procedures as well as quality control procedures, design of statistical analyses of data, and preparation of study reports.
